Enemies at the Borders
The new rules for a fantasy skirmish campaign now has a cover, and a new title. One of the positive side effects of working on multiple sets at once is that you sometimes spot something in one that has implications for another. As I was fooling around with my Big Battles set I realised that referring to Kingdom was too human-centric. So I thought of Realm instead, then I wanted to use Defend the Realm as the title for that with meant Protect the Realm was just going to cause confusion. Plus DtR has a single opponent whereas the skirmish game (or indeed games as the Post Apocalypse version is also underway) has four. So hence the new title, Enemies at the Borders.
Meanwhile, I’ve continued with 10mm painting with a couple of stands of Norse Undead, and a first one of Zombies. I’m really happy with how these are coming along, enough so that a second batch have been purchased despite not having finished all the first batch yet!
I also sourced some great counters for tracking Effectiveness (which goes down from a maximum of 20) from a little supplier called Nmills3Tokens on Etsy. They can be in multiple colour selection (I picked these to match my armies), do 20-11 on one side and flip over for 10-1 on the other, with a very satisfying click to the turning mechanism.
Finally for this post, the table is set for my fifth game of the newly christened Enemies at the Borders campaign.
