Juggling projects
We need your best squad, 10 campaigns of science fiction fun, has been released!
This is the sixth of my Adventure series of games.
I’ve been getting a lot of interest in the first of the skirmish level campaigns though, Protect the Kingdom, so I’ve shuffled the schedule and that will be up next, with my Time Travel Adventure after that.
Here’s the table all set for my second game in my own campaign. Hearing that the goblinoids have started causing trouble in the North, the Reptiles launch a raid from their island empire off the East coast.
Meanwhile, my first 10mm figures arrive today which has me thinking about how I’ll base them, what size units I want for the big battles rules, and a bunch of new mechanics for them.

Beautiful blog
ReplyDeleteThank you!

ReplyDeleteHappy to do so
DeleteYour output is impressive, sir! I struggle to produce one rules set over months and months of work. You are cranking them out like a machine...haha!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mike, there was a lot of pent up energy right at the start from playing other stuff, thinking about concepts for ‘true’ solo, working out what I enjoyed from other games and of course what wasn’t working for me. Plus I like working on more than one thing at once.
DeleteOh boy that’s not an easy question, each of the Arcs is centred on a different race, while the random incidents can be anything you like. The good news is that that there’s likely to be less than 10 Adversaries on the table at any one time, usually only 4 or 5 in fact, so if you haven’t already just a few of different types you’ll be fine. Plus it’s a great excuse to collect a few more every now and then. Remember, it’s a solo game, if you need to proxy in something else for a scenario nobody is going to complain.
ReplyDeleteThat said though, ping an email to hg.wargames@gmail.com and I’ll send you a copy, you can always buy it later if you do like it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the offer but I do not seek a free copy. I simply need to know what fantasy races are there (including monsters). Preview on Wargame Vault tells me that there are probably goblins, zombies, skeletons/wights, bandits/cultists, maybe some dryads. If there is anything more and is important in this game please list it.
ReplyDeleteWell I’ll take a stab but of course just seeing the rules would be much easier than trying to lay it all out in a comment here. Remember, each Arc is a different story of 15 games, I expect people to pick which they play, you don’t need to do them all.
ReplyDeleteArc 1 - While I had in my mind that this would be a human-centric campaign with the villagers, children, and cultists all being human, it occurs to me that they could be anything at all, indeed they could be a mix of races with the cult stealing any children wherever they can to keep the cult growing. [Spoiler alert - it includes a demon]
Arc 2 - The Adversaries in this Arc need to be typical forest dwellers and I have written it around beasts and beastmen so you’ll find wolves, satyrs/fauns, tree creatures, centaurs, and dryads but if you feel like using something else don’t let me stop you. Oh and a Forestal.
Arc 3 - This Arc centres around a group of quite isolated islands and would lend itself to a seafaring race or something substantially different from the usual humanoids. I am thinking of reptiles; lizards, snakes, turtles, and crocs. Feel free to substitute in something else though, in the descriptions I will call them Outsiders.
Arc 4 - This Arc centres around any goblinoid race, though I have specifically used Orcs in the descriptions they could of course be Goblins, Hobgoblins, Bugbears, etc.
Arc 5 - Zombies or Ghouls and Skeletons or mummies, plus a Necromancer.
Arc 6 - This can be any race that is more active at night, I play it with Gnolls, but it could also be a race that spends most of daylight underground like Ratkin or Duergar. Anyway, I will just call them Nocturnals. Whatever you pick, do not use them in the random Incidents though, reserve them for the special night games.
ReplyDeleteArc 7 - Pick any three races you can populate some forces for and use them for Adversary A, B, and C. Ideally A and B should be suitably warlike races, while C should be something known to be devious. Have fun with this, A and B could be Dwarves and Elves, and C a Human faction, for example.
Arc 8 - I’m leaving this one wide open, pick any race you want, or even mix it up by having different types involved with each Heirloom.
Arc 9 - Each of the special Incidents involves a group of a specific Monster type as the Adversaries. If you don’t have anything resembling the appropriate type feel free to consult the Wandering Monster table and pick a different type and use that profile and special rules instead. The random Incidents can be any race you want and any Wandering Monster that turns up is just bad luck, roll as normal and it is in no way connected to the main story … unless you want it to be of course. As written though it is 4 Trolls, 4 Manticores, 5 Werewolves, 5 Giant Spiders, 4 Drakes and a Dragon.
Arc 10 is currently Revenants, Wraiths, Vampires, a Necromancer, and an old one Vampire.
The Wandering Monsters are described as neutrally as possible but as written you have Troll, Giant Snake, Giant Lizard, Manticore, Giant Spider, Werewolf, Hydra, Wyvern, Giant Bear, and a Giant (as in humanoid).
ReplyDeleteArc 2 also uses a Minotaur, Arc 5 a skeletal or zombie giant, Arc 6 a giant hyena or Rat Ogre.
The basic Adversaries for all the random incidents are described in terms of the quality of the troops, not their race, so it really really is wide open to whatever you have. You’ll need some with hand weapons and some with missile weapons to make your life easier in battles.
ReplyDeleteThe offer of a free copy still stands, and I’m currently doing an update that brings in two new adventures, both with no specific Adversaries in mind.
Big thanks for describing all in detail. I suggest to do such lists for any of your games, and pinning them on any platform you post your games so people will get that info without any longer search. I also suggest to send a copy to YT channel Guerilla Miniature Games, as its owner Ash is actively promoting Indie games. Here is the link https://www.youtube.com/@GuerrillaMiniatureGames/videos
