Warden down!

This week saw me putting the finishing touches on the next in the Adventure Series - The Wardens of History. Which meant two things, finishing my Warden’s team and a final bit of playtesting, with a fully painted team. So in the photo above you can see the six Team members that took part in a play through of one of the special Incidents. The Team were hunting a time travelling alien who is interfering with Earth’s timeline, who for this scenario is hiding in a camp with some locals they have convinced to help them, and some other innocent bystanders.

The photo below is from Round 4 when the alien has appeared out of a tent and our hero, Warden Tarrant, has taken a bad blow from a viking warrior and is Incapacitated! You’ll be glad to hear that not only were the team ultimately successful in taking down the alien, but despite a couple of the bystanders seeing it, some fast talking by the team and a quick take down of the remaining adversaries, stopped the timeline from being broken.

So here’s the full set of security troopers painted (I only needed six but Crooked Dice does two packs of four and I liked them all) and as you can’t really see the alien very well above, here’s the full set of four of them too (Crooked Dice again).

This is not all that got finished this week, you might notice the 11 horses in last week’s WIP shot are now gone, but not to be photographed until they have their riders, the first four of which are nearly done, while newly in progress are a single sprue of female survivours (Wargames Atlantic).

Looking back at my plan for four projects this year, I realise now that this is all I need for now for the Wardens game, and that to be able to playtest the next skirmish campaign (and indeed to play it in full myself) I need to get busy with more Post Apocalypse stuff.  Hence the female survivours and a bunch more stuff over the coming months that will need to be my main 28mm focus, eclipsing the wild west as well. I playtested the campaign aspect this week, rolling through  16 turns before having located all four adversary home bases, and polishing up the mapping rules.

As a teaser, I am happy to say that the 10mm project is still getting focus though, here’s me playtesting the campaign aspect of that too. In the bottom left corner, Realm force 1 and Adversary force 2 are about to engage in battle, but sadly I need a lot more figures painted before that can happen.

Not bad progress all told, so until next week, take care everyone.
